Save Money on Groceries: Watch for Fresh Produce Errors Part 2

Published by jenfoote at 11:29 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

In my last post, I stated the importance of watching all fresh produce rung up at the cash register. This is due in part to the lack of barcodes, as most cashiers must enter in a produce code by hand. This does leave room for error. That is why you should, at the very least, check your receipt before leaving the store.

There are, however, other steps that you can take as well.

* Make note of all produce sale prices, either in your head or on paper. This will allow you to easily catch an overcharge.

* Grab an item that has a produce code sticker on it. Most cashiers will first look for these stickers. Having it handy can reduce the chance of a mistake.

* Write down the code yourself. If your cashier looks like he or she is unsure, give them the codes that you wrote down. This can also help to save time.

Takes so much work not to get bamboozled these days. Luckily Trader Joes has everything packaged all up (including fresh produce) and the price is clearly marked.
