The Importance of Checking for Price Errors
Have you ever heard your grocery store clerk say a total that you just thought was too high? If you have, you are not alone. What did you do though? Did you check your receipt for any price errors? If not, you may want to do so next time.
Price errors, although rare, do happen. You may buy a box of cereal thinking that it is on sale, due the sale sign in front of the shelf, but you may have been charged full price. Everyone makes mistakes, including both large and small grocery stores. That is why it is important for you to check your receipt if you ever feel like you have been overcharged.
When checking your receipt and you see that you have been overcharged, it is important that you speak up. For starters, you should receive the advertised sale price, even if it is a mistake. You can get your money back by either speaking with your cashier or by visiting the store’s customer service department. Most grocery stores will also appreciate the fact that you bring a price error to their attention.
